Last week I told you how we started building a tiny home. This past week, we finished the shell: the siding, the roof, all the windows, and the front door. We also finished the interior framing.
Once the shell was complete, I did a final walkthrough and got a signed lien waiver from the contractor. This matters because it’s their written confirmation that they’ve been paid for that work and won’t file a lien against the property.
For extra protection, it’s worth asking for waivers from major subcontractors and suppliers too. (Lien rules vary by state, so always consult a lawyer for your own case.)
Out back, we built a deck with room for a small table and probably a grill. There’s even space for yoga if anyone wants it. I’m hesitant to add a pergola, since the tree branches already make a natural ceiling.
This week is all about electrical. Next up is the rest of the utilities, which will take who knows how long.
Hope your week is going well.
Till next week, dear readers.
