How to Turn Anything into a Hotel (part 2)

We started last week with 10 unique structures in Part 1.

But the list is far from complete.

Here’s Part 2: more creative stays built from the most unlikely foundations.

7 cool structures/places you can turn into unique stays:

1. Submarine: USS Cobia, Wisconsin, USA

Sleep in restored sailors’ bunks aboard a fully restored WWII sub with heat/AC.

After-hours museum access + private tour and movie night; sleeps up to 65.

2. TV tower: Ještěd Tower, Czech Republic

Icon hotel that merges a television transmitter with a mountaintop hotel.

Sculptural silhouette + panoramic rooms showcase engineering elegance and place-making.

3. Airport terminal: TWA Hotel, New York, USA

A 1962 terminal reborn as a retro-futuristic stay within an active hub.

Sweeping concrete shells, mid-century lounges, and runway-facing rooms celebrate classic air travel.

4. Aircraft hangar: Hangar Hotel, Fredericksburg, Texas, USA

WWII era hangar-style stay on an active airfield with runway views.

1940s details such as an observation deck, officers' club, and diner bring aviation nostalgia with modern comfort.

5. Train on the bridge(!): Kruger Shalati, Kruger National Park, South Africa

Restored vintage train anchored on the Selati Bridge above the Sabie River.

Glass-walled carriages and a bridge-top pool put wildlife views center stage.

6. Former jail: The Liberty Hotel, Boston, USA

An 1800s jail turned into a modern city hotel near Beacon Hill.

Big stone lobby, metal walkways, and old cell details give a strong historic feel.

7. Quarry: InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, Shanghai, China (it's not AI)

Hotel built inside an abandoned quarry, with most floors below ground and two underwater.

Cliff and waterfall views, glass walls, and a striking atrium.. I do have many questions regarding flooding/earthquakes and everything in between about this one.

Here is a video to check out.

Hope you enjoyed these 7 unique stays.

There are so many more out there that are truly inspiring. I’ll probably do a part 3 at some point.

That's all for today!
